Changing a password on the iSeries AS400

Changing a password: examples of screens that a user may see:

 

 

 

 

 

Password has expired – click Yes.

May also see a screen that says “password will expire in X number of days – do you want to change it now – can say yes or no.”

 

 

Type Old password.

 

Type new password and confirm new password, according to the rules.

 

 

 

May see this if you key the wrong new and confirm passwords – they have to be the same.

 

 

Click ok.

 

Violates one of the rules – cannot use a letter more than once – repeating character.  Click OK and try again.

 

 

Violates one of the rules – password is too short – make it longer.  Click OK and try again.

 

 

Changing password from a 5250 green screen session:

 

User presses ESC key (upper left hand corner of keyboard)

Press option 5

Type current password, new password according to rules above, and new password again to verify.     Use the TAB key to move between each field. Message at bottom of screen will advise of success.
